WolfTech AD: NC State’s Active Directory

Active Directory® directory service is the distributed directory service that is included with Microsoft® Windows Server™ operating system.  The WolfTech Active Directory (WolfTech AD) service is NC State’s implementation of the service, allowing departments and units to manage and share computer resources and services with other departments on campus.  This service provides for delegated administrative control for departmental administrators and is available to all campus departments.  WolfTech AD membership provides access to the following services, allowing administrators to assign policies, deploy software, and apply critical updates to an organization:

  • UnityId authentication
  • Base Infrastructure
  • Security Defaults
  • Distributed File Sharing Namespace (DFS-N)
  • Imaging via System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Software Packaging and Deployment
  • Patching via System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Direct Access
  • Bitlocker Administration
